final project, led dress

i don’t know how to put a powerpoint show onto tumblr, so i am just going to post pictures and copy the information.

LED Dress

Materials:
2 kinds of fabric
surface mount leds
beading wire
conductive thread

There have been lots of projects with LEDs put into clothing, such as the LED pimp jacket and LED jewelry.

Techniques:
pattern making
working with leds and beading wire
sewing
originally i wanted to use conductive paint, but it didn’t work out.

Challenges:
working with the fabric - had a tendency to get stuck in the foot of the machine.
pattern making is hard.
managing beading wire and keeping it from getting tangled.

Successes:
It works.
The design came out as I expected in the beading wire straps.

Next steps:
Better patter
zipper and belt attachment
better way to attach beading wire to straps.
